The Return of 10thDoM...

Hello, everyone...

So, more than a handful of people have expressed distress at the absence of The Tenth Daughter of Memory from their writing lives and, as callous as he may be, JeffScape has decided to attempt a relaunch of sorts.

However... things have changed.

The new system in mind provides longer periods of both submitting and voting, as well as limits the types of entries a specific Muse will accept.  The system, so far, looks wonderful on paper, but it is obvious to those involved that said system will undoubtedly run into problems.

Which means what, exactly?

Which means that, starting in November, The Tenth Daughter of Memory is going to launch a 3-cycle "beta test" to try out the next system, with the hopes of having a full relaunch in time for the "4th Annual River of Mnemosyne."

The beta test will be all-volunteer and done in private, and, well, we need volunteers.

Anyone interested in either participating or administrating, please email us at 10thDoM@gmail.com.

Winner: "Setting Fire to Slippery Slopes"

Little point announcing a winner with four entries and only three votes. Interest has been dwindling and though it is a little heartbreaking, its originator isn't interested in monthly muses, and only four men and women are left standing. Even  attempting to change what has been a working formula to suit a couple of people who didn't even enter has not encouraged others to participate.
On a positive note, it's been a ride. We've stretched our creative muscles, landed in places fantastic and unknown and explored our potential. Thank you so much to the people who have administered. Thank you very much to Jeffscape for starting the whole thing and giving us the opportunity to be as creative as we are. Thank you to the participants for having the courage to take a leap and accept the critiques of others. Never say never, but I think this little adventure has reached it's zenith. Nine muses are NEVER enough...keep writing, keep creating and keep the faith. Thank you and...it was wonderful while it lasted.

Reminder: "Setting Fire to Slippery Slopes"

Fanning the flames or raking the embers, either way, time's running out. You'll need energy to burn if you're going to make it out of the frypan and into the fire.

"Setting Fire to Slippery Slopes"

Quite appropriate given that this little blog is on a slippery slope and that Colorado is going up in flames. Time to unleash the hidden pyromaniac, reignite the creative flame. Half Moose with a Twist invites us to burn it up with:

"Setting Fire to Slippery Slopes"

Burn baby burn....rip it up in a blaze of glory because where there's smoke, there's fire.

Remember, don't sign up until you've posted the entry on your site and link that entry directly (not your blog home page). In the meantime, leave a comment and let us know you're game!

This is the first of our 'monthly muses'. We're trialling giving you a little longer to write, post and read. Post as soon as you're ready, and we'll post a reminder on the 14th. Voting begins on the 21st!

Reminder: "Testing the Friendship"

By now, your story should be swimming along nicely, even if your poor characters are not. But whether they're barely treading water or on their way to Davy Jones' Locker, it's time for you to think about pulling the plug.

Now, on another note...

Contributors have been a little thin on the ground lately despite some appreciated spruiking by our regulars. It takes a little bravery to put yourself up here but we're a supportive lot and would love to have you along for the ride.

We here at 10thDoM encourage others to take the challenge. It's a lot of work administering the site for half a dozen people. And besides, we're running out of challenges for our most successful contributors, Half-Moose and JeffScape. We need some young/new/old blood to give them a run for their money. There are followers on this page who have only contributed intermittently or not at all.

How about giving it a go? It's fun, it's competitive and we'll all read your stories. You can even receive a goodly amount of feedback if you want it. (And probably even if you don't.) Remember, anything qualifies, as long as it addresses the muse - artworks, film, voice, prose, poetry, photography... anything you fancy. Win a muse and you get to pick one of your own.

Come play.
